Change Team:
Full Speed Ahead
by posted 09/13/2021

Hello BCYL G5/6 Families,

The season clearly got off to a great start with phenominal effort and rapid development in practice as well as fantastic integration and solid cohesion.  Now we have our first victory under our belt and we are moving full speed ahead.

Last week we learned our roles on the field and saw the plan we developed put into action.  This week, we will further develop skills in our positions and look for gains in execution.  Now that we are functioning together, we can work on some more complicated set ups and really bring some precision to our game.  This team has some devastating weapons, especially for this level of play.  We are looking forward to continued success.

Everyone should take the time to talk to their player about what they are learning to let them articulate the concepts in their own words.  This can help solidify these ideas and possibly develop additional insight in their mind.  Don't forget to mention how proud you are of their growth, effort, and success.  They really are dumping the tank out there and we are definitely seeing more sweat on the field than ever before.

With great enthusiasm, regards

Updates Week 2 and Game Schedule
by posted 09/07/2021

Grettings BCYL G5/G6 Families,

Week 2 was focused on thinking about individual skills that are necessary to be effective on the field and we once again had outstanding effort by the players to perform as best they could.  It shed light on our strengths and weaknesses at the operational level and gave useful info on what we need to work on going forward.  As always, if your player has time available to practice craddling and ball carrying independently and maybe do some catch and throw at home, this would be excellent as those are extremely fundamental.  It was clear for our newest players, that we did not have much contact time prior to our first game of the season (Sat. 9/11).

The goal here in week 3 was to get into gameplay scenarios in order to have an operational team this Saturday.  Unfortunately, Labor Day fell on one of the 2 remaining practices and turn out was poor.  This makes Thursday's practice all the more important, especially for players who have never played. We will be doing live play to determine starting positions and to get real experience prior to Saturday's game.

On that note, without further ado, the game schedule is posted here.  I have also included the link to the SSPRD website where any updates and changes will appear.

As always, reach out with any questions and let me know if your player will not be attending any team function.  See you out there,

Coach Matt
