After going 4-0 in pool play and defeating Clinton in the Semi-Final, all the while outscoring their opponents 57-12, they faced off against East Hampton in the final game. As home team OS took a 1-0 lead in the 1st when Paige Trabucchi (2-for3) knocked in Emily Santamaria who led off with a single. The Dairy Queen sponsored ladies in purple carried that lead into the 4th when East Hampton pushed in the tying run on a bases loaded walk. But Tina Gosselin, who allowed just 2 runs in 20 innings of work in the tournament, slammed the door. In the top of the 6th she worked out of a no out, runners on 2nd and 3rd jam, inducing a strikeout, a bloop to 2B and a grounder back to the mound which set the stage for the late inning heroics. With one out in the bottom of the 6th Mary Kate Morrison got on with a single to right and stole 2nd. Then with two outs Lauren Rhodes ripped a hard liner to center and Morrison never hesitated scoring the winning run from 2nd.
Old Saybrook Softball makes it's mark advancing to the State Sectionals starting July 16th.
