REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

PREP TEAM OPEN TO 3RD AND 4TH GRADERS

The Redding Boys and Girls Club offers a skills program to learn the basics of field hockey. The sessions will run Thursdays and Fridays from 3-4p at the RBGC field hockey field. No experience necessary - come ready to have fun and learn more about the game of field hockey.

5TH - 8TH GRADE MIDDLE SCHOOL TEAM

The Redding Boys and Girls Club will begin our 6th year of offering a middle school field hockey team. The team(s) practice on Thursdays and Fridays from 4-5:30p at the RBGC field hockey field. Games will be played on Thursdays and Fridays with some games also played on Wednesdays. We will continue to participate in weekend jamborees and tournaments.

This is not an in-house league, therefore we will compete against other local middle school teams. We will have both away and home games. Redding is currently a member of the Fairfield County Field Hockey Association.

DATES AND TIMES

Thursday and Fridays beginning September 10 - November 8
Some games will be scheduled on Wednesdays and weekends

Note: Any child that is not fully registered will not be able to particiapte in practices or games as it is a liability for the club. Please make sure you are fully registered and paid before the season begins.

LOCATION

The RBGC field hockey field

EQUIPMENT

Field hockey sticks and balls will be provided
Cleats (highly recommended) or sneakers must be worn to every practice and game
Mouth guards - you will not be allowed on the field without one - no white or clear mouth guards please
Shin Guards - "sockguards" or any guard that protects the shin and ankle recommended
Goggles - MANDATORY FOR 5-8TH GRADE - highly recommended for 3-4th grade
Water Bottle - necessary at every practice and game
Uniforms for 5-8th grade team will be handed out before the first game

IN CASE OF RAIN/SNOW

Please call the Club at 938-3166 for weather related cancellations after 2p
Cancellations ill be posted on website and email notification will follow
An announcement will be made at JRMS before dismissal if the practice/game is cancelled. Please instruct your child to listen to the announcements so she know if she should take the bus home
Please follow RES policy if Prep Team practice is cancelled

COACHING STAFF

Donna Marie Macchio, Amy Taylor and Megan Valentine live in Redding and competed at the high school and Division II and III college field hockey levels.

It is their hope that the girls will have an opportunity to be introduced to a new fall sport in a fun and instructional environment as well as provide a solid foundation for those wishing to pursue the sport in high school and beyond.
