posted 06/26/2009 The MARA Crushers 8U All Star team took home a victory in their second All Star tournament game by defeating Lake Norman by a score of 26 - 18.
The Lake Norman team came ready to play and scored 7 runs in the top of the first with some great hitting. The MARA Crushers battled back to score 11 runs in the bottom of the first and did not trail the rest of the game. Sarah L. and Madison T. each hit an inside the park home run!
The MARA Crushers were led by their 5 veteren players and the bats were red hot in the Thursday evening game that started in the sunshine and finished under the lights. Although it was an offensive battle, several key defensive plays in the 5th inning stopped a Lake Norman rally and led to the tournament victory.
The five veteren players on the team have shown great leadership and include Sarah L, Caitrin S., Makayla M., Caroline B. and Madison T.
The MARA Crushers advance to the tournament semi-final game on Friday at 6:00 at Piedmont Recreation Association against the Union County West All Stars. Good luck MARA Crushers!
