Open Meeting - NYH Board of Directors will be holding it's Open Meeting on 2/25 at 7:30pm at the Village Club in Needham. We would like to hear your feedback on the 2009/2010 season and will be discussing plans for the 2010/2011 including increasing skills, continued effort for more regular / advanced scheduling, how to incorporate some of the principles of the American Development Model into the NYH Program, plus regular board discussion items.

Registration 2010/2011 - Hard to believe, but registration for next year's year travel hockey will start in late February. More details to be posted shortly on both the NYH and USA Hockey registration process.

Squirt B1's Win Western Freeze Out

After losing a close game 1 to 0 on Friday night, the Needham Squirt B1’s stormed back to win 4 straight games over the weekend to win the Western Freeze Out at UMASS. Julian Ziskin scored 36 seconds into overtime to beat Groton Sq B 2 to 1 in the Championship Game. Ziskin and linemates Ryan Belval and Patrick Canavan combined to lead the tournament in scoring producing 12 of Needham’s 24 goals. Ryan Belval also found time to win the shootout challenge during the skills competition in between tournament games.

Great passing and balanced scoring helped Needham advance to the Championship Game. The line of Daniel McElroy, Sam Keenan, and Hudson Roddy scored several critical goals during the tournament including Sam’s winning goal in the semi-finals against Woonsocket, RI. Balancing out the scoring was the line Dylan Tamkin, Kenneth Ruetenik, and Ryan Cohen who combined to score 7 goals over the weekend including the critical tying goal in the championship game to force overtime.

The team only allowed 5 goals in the entire tournament. Anchored in net by Championship Game MVP Ben Higgins, the defense of Philip Pascucci, Timmy Noone, PK Noonan, David Rogers, Stewart Hickey, and Kelvin Donoghue took over the tournament allowing only 1 goal in the final 3 games including the championship game overtime.

The entire team demonstrated great effort, sportsmanship, and hockey skill, and represented NYH against teams from NY, CT, RI, and Ma.

High School Boys continue win streak

Calling all hockey fans!!!

The Needham Boys High School Varsity team is 12-1-1, ranked 3^rd in the State and once again in contention for the Super 8 tournament. This team is made up of players who all cut their teeth playing for Needham Youth Hockey and is taking on all comers in the Bay State League as well as an extremely difficult non-conference schedule. Needham plays their home games at Babson rink so come watch Franz Brinkhaus, Sam Kane, Pat Sullivan, Mike Lambert, Andy Kennedy, Sean McCarthy, Tom Coleman, Sam Nickles, Tom Williams, DJ Walsh, JP McHale, Lucas Davis, Joe Parsons, Paul Sharpe, Tim Paquette, Ian Campbell, Casey Valente, Chris Joyce, Scott Atkinson, Tim Parlato, Peter Doisneau, Brendan Joyce, Chris Gates, Evan MacDonald and Alex Mirageas in action.

February 3^rd – 8:00pm vs. Framingham

February 6^th – 7:30pm vs. Norwood

February 13^th – 9:00pm vs. Newton North

The team needs our support as it looks to win the Bay State League and return to the Super 8 tournament.
