The CABC and CMS Administration are looking for a Dance and Drill Team Coach for the coming Fall 2010 / 2011 season. All interested applicants should complete the Coaching Application under the Register Online Tab of our Home Page. All candidates will have to obtain Level 4 Certification from UCPS before accepting any CABC Sponsored Team Coaching Position.

CMS Boy's Tennis Information

CMS Boys Tennis
 
If you are interested in playing Boys Tennis in the spring, please register for tryouts by clicking on the Register Online tab (even if you attended the meeting on 1/14 or signed up with Mr. Demster).  Once players are registered for tryouts, you will be contacted with details about the season.  We have a full schedule of matches and expect to have a great season!
 
Participation Requirements & Information:
·         Parents must join the Cuthbertson Middle School Boosters Club and must register players for tryouts (click Register Online Tab)
·         Players must have their own racquet and are responsible for the travel to and from matches
·         Students must provide a copy of their current physical (within one year), proof of medical insurance and emergency contact forms prior to practicing
·         Students must meet grade and conduct requirements set by the school
·         Review the rules of tennis on www.usta.com
·         Optional workouts will begin the week of 2/8 (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)
·         Practices will begin the week of 2/15
·         Matches begin in early March and will run through April (final schedule to be posted in February)

****UPDATE*** CMS Golf Team Information

Cuthbertson Middle School Golf Team tryouts are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday February 23rd at Firethorne Country Club from 4:30 to 6:00. Tryouts will be open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys and girls. Students should bring their golf clubs and dress in appropriate golf attire. Interested players need to register for tryouts on the CABC website (CABC Spring Sport TRYOUT Program) prior to Wednesday February 17th. Questions about the golf program can be directed to coach John Sardinia at . 
  • We are looking to field six to eight players on the golf team.
  • Students must have their own golf equipment necessary to participate (clubs, golf bag, shoes, balls, etc).
  • The golf program is not an instructional or lesson program and it's not a golf class. Participants are expected to have a basic knowledge of golf etiquette and rules.
  • For additional information regarding the golf team, please contact coach John Sardinia ( ).

CABC Spring Sports TRYOUT Registration Program

We have opened the CABC Spring Sports TRYOUT Registration Program for the following sports:
Baseball
Softball
Boys and Girls Soccer
Boys and Girls Golf
Boys Tennis

If your student athlete is interested in trying out for any of the above spring sports, please access the registration program via the Register Online Tab on our Home Page.

***NOTE: Membership into the CABC (by a parent or guardian) is required prior to registering for any CABC sponsored sport tryout. Membership registration can also be found under the Register Online Tab. There is no fee associated with any tryout, but a sports fee will be charged should your student athlete make a team roster.

***UPDATE*** Middle School Baseball Tryouts

***UPDATE***
The Cuthbertson Middle School baseball tryouts will be held indoors at Carolina Baseball Center (CBC) on Tuesday February 2nd from 4:30 to 6:30p for players whose last name begins with A-K and Thursday, February 4th from 4:30 to 6:30p for those with last name L-Z.  The players should wear baseball pants, hat and a plain white t-shirt that can be written on.  Baseball cleats are not allowed inside so please have the kids wear sneakers.

Middle School Baseball Tryouts will be held at Cuthbertson High School’s Varsity Baseball field and are scheduled as follows:

***All parents / guardians of student athletes intending to tryout need to complete the membership registration in the booster club prior to tryouts.  If no member of your family is currently a booster club member, you will be required to become a member in order to try out. Please access registration via the Register Online Tab at www.gocavs.org.

Saturday January 30 from 11am to 1pm – Players with last name beginning with letters A-K

Saturday January 30 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm – Players with last name beginning with letters L-Z
 
All players trying out should plan to attend both the Friday session and the corresponding Saturday session. Attire should be baseball pants, cleats, hat, and a plain white t-shirt that can be written on. Shorts should not be worn.  We have been asked several times about bats and there are no rules regarding the drop in a bat, i.e. length minus weight. Friday will be mainly hitting and Saturday will be fielding and throwing.  Players will be required to bring a copy of the following to tryouts:
 
1)     Proof of insurance
2)     Physical (within 1 year)
 
There will also be a CABC consent form provided at the field to be completed prior to players trying out.

New CMS Football Commissioner for 2010 Season

Please join the CABC and CMS in welcoming Tom Danca as our new Middle School Football Commissioner for the 2010 season. Tom will be replacing Jeff Turner who is stepping down after an extremely successful launch of our Middle School Football program in 2009. Tom and Jeff will work together in the coming months to insure a smooth transition of leadership.

We would like to thank Jeff for his dedication and hard work in providing a solid foundation upon which we can build a successful football program well into the future!

CABC / CMS 6th - 8th Grade Football Coaching Applications

The Cavaliers Athletic Booster Club is now accepting coaching applications for our 6th - 8th Grade Middle School Football teams. We will consider all applicants who wish to participate in the program, including both Head and Assistant coaches. You may access the Coaching Application via the Register On Line tab at www.gocavs.org.

Interviews for the Head Coaching position for each team will be held in February (exact date and times TBD). Please note that all coaches for any CABC sponsored sport will require Level 4 certification via the Union County Public School System.
