In the past, CYBA has hosted nights at the Varsity High School games in which the kids go, wear their jerseys and have the opportunity to play at half time. We have arranged for two nights again this season for our boys (the girls have separate nights):
- Tuesday 1/26 (versus Windsor Locks) - boys 5th & 6th grade
- Tuesday 2/9 (versus Stafford) - boys 3rd & 4th grade
The varsity games usually start at 7 PM, so the boys should plan to be there at the start of the game, and all the CYBA players can sit together and create a cheering section. During half time, we will play money basket with all the kids that attend. We’ll start after the high school players leave the floor, and go until they return (probably 5-10 minutes). It should be a great experience for the kids. They should wear sneakers and their CYBA jerseys.
Please pass along to your teams and let me know how many you expect so we can plan with the school accordingly.

The exciting first weekend of games has finally arrived! We hope your
players have enjoyed the skills training and team practices that we have
held in order to get them ready for this season.
A few key things we ask you to please remember during the upcoming season of
Rec games:
1) Please refer regularly to our new website for the latest updated
info: www.cantonyouthathletics.com <http://www.cantonyouthathletics.com/>
Special thanks to our webmaster, Gary Burke, for our significant site
upgrade this season. You can find a lot of team, sponsor, and other useful
info on this site!
2) If games are canceled or times changed due to weather or other
issue, your head coach will start a notification process for your team
(email, phone, etc) prior to your game
3) Please treat the gyms and school facilities with respect during the
games. This means not leaving any bottles, trash, etc and also keeping
children in or near the gym and not wandering the halls. Players should
change into gym shoes once inside the school to avoid getting the gym floors
wet and unsafe.
4) Respect our refs. Remember they are doing the best they can and
this is Rec league. CYBA's Rec program emphasizes skill development,
teamwork, and character building through competitive and fair play with
equal playing time. We have strived to establish equal teams from a talent
perspective. Every weekend, some teams will win and some will lose. Use
either situation as a learning experience for your player.
5) Any team-related questions, please contact your coach. Any
CYBA-related questions can be directed to our Board Members (names and
contact info are on our website).

WINS For Life is hosting free try-outs for the 2010 AAU Basketball season. We anticipate having two teams for boys 11U, 12U, 13U. The attachment provides try-out information for the WINS For Life ALL Stars AAU Basketball program, including the participation form. You may call or email me for additional information. Coaching positions are available.
Dates to determine AAU age:
13U: born after Sept 1, 1996
12U: born after Sept 1, 1997
11U: born after Sept 1, 1998
