Sky Blue FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announces a partnership with FC Copa Academy, a prominent soccer development academy that is based in New Jersey. As part of the affiliation, FC Copa will manage the official Sky Blue FC Reserve Team in a co-branded agreement, which will play a season concurrently with the full professional side.
Sky Blue FC Reserves, in partnership with FC Copa Academy, is the development squad for the NWSL professional team Sky Blue FC. The reserve team, which will be comprised of elite-level college and amateur players, will be competing in its second year against other NWSL reserve teams and other top-level clubs in the region.
The Sky Blue Reserve team is an important part of the club's growth as we focus on continued development of regional players with this platform. Under the direction of Sky Blue and FC Copa professional staff, this relationship will enable continuity throughout the program and provide a professional atmosphere for the players. In addition to their own training and game schedule, there will be occasions where reserve players can be called up to train with the Sky Blue FC professional team.
We are once again excited to have an organized reserve team program this season. As the only professional women's soccer team in the area, we are thrilled to offer this exclusive development opportunity to local players and look forward to growing the game throughout the region.
