posted 01/21/2010 Dear CONNY Members:
At its January 12th meeting, the CONNY Board of Directors unanimously approved a marketing agreement with Millon Lacrosse Camps. In exchange for a banner posting on the CONNY website, Millon Camps has provided CONNY with four scholarships to any of its 2010 summer lacrosse camps.
Mark Millon offers what is arguably the best teaching camp available in the sport. One of the biggest names in lacrosse today, Mark is on site at every camp approximately 90% of the time, ensuring that every kid comes out with a great experience. The CONNY Board is convinced that we have alignined ourselves with someone who cares about the sport and the experience of young players as much as we do.
The scholarship will cover camp fees and boarding (where applicable). Most Millon Camps are overnight/boarding camps, and all camps accept players in age groups from 9 to 17 years. These age groups are broken down into PeeWee, JV, and Varsity divisions to be sure that campers are playing with players of the same level. CONNY will award the scholarships to any player currently between 9 and 15 years old who played on a CONNY team in the spring of 2010. Transportation and incidental fees are the responsibility of the scholarship winner.
Millon Lacrosse Camp locations are at:
- Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio from June 13 - June 17
- Stony Brook University on Long Island from June 28 - July 2
- SUNY Farmingdale on Long Island from July 5 - July 9
- SUNY Farmingdale on Long Island from July 19 - July 23
- At the Williston-Northampton School in Easthampton, MA from July 13 - July 17
- At the Boys Latin School in Baltimore, MD from July 12 - July 16
- At the George School in Newtown, PA from August 1 - August 5
CONNY has created a committee to review applications from active CONNY players who would be interested in receiving one of these scholarships.
Interested players should write a 300 word (or fewer) essay on why they feel they deserve this award - and what CONNY lacrosse has meant to them. The committee will review all submissions and award the scholarships to four CONNY players deemed to be most deserving of the awards.
Requirements for submissions are as follows:
- Essay of 300 words or less - typewritten - due via email to
by March 15
- Include player/applicant name
- Include US Lacrosse Membership number
- Include the CONNY program with which the player is affiliated
