Dear PYH Members, Local Business Leaders, and Friends,

We are humbled by everyone's past support for PYH and the strength of our great community.  We ask for your continued support as we embark on our annual corporate and individual sponsorship campaign to raise funds during the PYH 2021-2022 Season.  Sponsorship levels are from $5000+ to $150.  This season's campaign will focus solely on the Pembroke Youth Hockey Joseph Birolini and William Hickey Scholarship Fund.  This fund was established in loving memory of the young men who tragically passed on April 17th, 2021.  The fund will not only support the needs of players in our organization, but also provide annual awards to qualifying high school students.

As in the past, all sponsors will be listed on our website and in our yearbook.  Our yearbook will also be the physical game program for The Boston Bruins Alumni Game, to be held in memory of Joey and Billy, on April 23rd, 2022 1:00 PM ET at The Bog in Kingston.  All proceeds from sponsorships and fundraising associated with the game will go directly to the scholarship fund.

If you own, work for, or know of a business that would like to become a PYH sponsor, it would be much appreciated if you could pass along to the appropriate contact and/or fill out the sponsorship form linked HERE.  Individual or family sponsors are also welcome.  Please return the form by January 16, 2022.

If you have any questions, please send us an email at .

Thank you for considering this opportunity.  With your support we can reach our goals of providing the kids in our community with the best town youth hockey experience possible, in a safe and friendly environment, while creating life long skills and friendships.

The PYH Board of Directors

PYH COVID Safety Committee Update:  Sept 24, 2021

PYH Members,

We have updated our COVID-19 policies in response to additional consultation with the Pembroke BOH and state epidemiologist. These changes are being made in an effort continue to maintain safety for the entire program while minimizing the effect of exposure on a team. Please continue to communicate all instances of symptoms, exposures and positive cases with our COVID Safety Committee. It is imperative that the committee learn of cases ASAP. The full policy document may be found here.

Key Changes Effective Immediately

We will be initiating more internal strategic contact tracing procedures when a positive case has been reported on a particular team. The following are general guidelines for that tracing:
  • PYH will start investigation into everyone with close contact 2 days prior before onset of symptoms or date swab was obtained if no symptoms exist through date of last exposure during PYH activities.
  • Locker Room – players that dressed within 6 feet of the positive case will be deemed close contacts
  • Bench – Line mates, defensive pairs and possibly additional players will be deemed close contacts
  • On-ice participation will not be considered in any tracing
  • Contacts outside of PYH will also be considered (i.e. carpooling, etc.)
  • Tracing will occur through discussion with team coaches, parents of players and players
  • Coaches may be deemed a close contact but considering the new process this is unlikely
  • If specific contact tracing is unable to be accurately determined the entire team will be required to shut down for 10 days
  • Fully vaccinated coaches/players or any coach/player that has tested positive for Covid19 in the past 90 days and recovered will not be subject to self-quarantine guidelines unless they otherwise develop symptoms of COVID-19
In order to accurately and quickly perform tracing the following requirements are being placed on coaches and players:
  • Players are required to sit alphabetically in the locker room at practices and games – no exceptions
  • Locker rooms at skills will require more player investigating
  • Coach presence is required in every locker room to ensure proper seating
  • On the bench during games, forward lines and defensive pairs should be separated as best a coach can

Best Regards,
PYH Covid19 Safety Committee

MASSACHUSETTS HOCKEY RULE CHANGES

A few key rule changes were presented, voted on and approved during the Annual Meeting.
  • The role of “State Tournament Coordinator” is now included on the Massachusetts Hockey Executive Board.
  • There are updated deadlines for teams/associations to submit official rosters with USA Hockey. Failure to comply with this policy may result in fines and/or discipline to the association.
  • Effective immediately, new teams and/or associations who are looking to register with USA Hockey under a previously inactive code or are looking to be granted a new code will be subject to review prior to being issued a registration code.
  • Game sheet labels are REQUIRED for every USA Hockey sanctioned game under Massachusetts Hockey’s jurisdiction. Failure to comply with this policy may result in fines and/or discipline to the association.
  • The referee coordinator job description has been updated, including serving on Disciplinary Committee and working to ensure safety for officials, players, coaches and others.
  • All hometown programs/associations shall register their teams as Tier III, Tier IV and Tier V and may register multiple teams at a level. Hometown programs may also elect to register teams as a Tier II National Bound.
  • In an effort to curb repeat offenses, an education and training component can be imposed as part of a discipline decision.
  • All references to mite, squirt, pee wee, bantam and midget will be removed from the guidebook, consistent with USA Hockey’s requirements.
A full summary of the changes is available by clicking here.

USA HOCKEY RULE CHANGES
(from Annual Congress)

The USA Hockey Board of Directors approved the rulebook for 2021-25. The organization modifies/updates the playing rules on a four-year cycle. Highlights of modifications include:
  • The principles of the declaration of safety, fair play, and respect that were originally passed by the Board in 2019 will be fully implemented into the new rulebook, including zero tolerance of hateful and discriminatory language and as well as hits from behind, hits to the head and late hits.
  • All levels of youth hockey outside of high school will include both immediate offside and the removal of the exception to ice the puck when shorthanded.
  • Major and match penalties will be determined on the principle of reckless endangerment, not based on injury.
  • All major penalties will now also include a game misconduct penalty.
  • Modified the length of penalties based on length of period.

Learn to Play Hockey - LTPH

Imagine your child's delight each week when he/she is introduced to the sport of ice hockey. This is a fun program that allows your child to begin skating drills using a stick and puck. This program has many of the same objectives as the Learn-to-Skate program, only applied in a hockey environment. This program is for all children ages 4-12, with some skating experience but may not be ready for the U6 or U8 or U10 or U12 Hockey programs.  Players must be fully outfitted in hockey equipment.  As part of the American Development Model, USA Hockey recommends younger players limit their ice time while maximizing fun and developing their overall athletic skills.  For more information, visit usahockey.com/newparents for resources and information about Youth Hockey.

Click here to register (select LTPH from the drop down to proceed).  This program will be limited to 40 skaters per session, registration is first come first serve.

USA Hockey registration # is required (may be obtained after April 1, 2021) - Free for 2015's and younger, $46 for 2014's and older. This same # can be used during the 2021-2022 youth hockey season Sept 2021 thru March 2022 as well.

PYH LTPH COVID waiver will be provided and required to be signed at the first hour.  Fee includes a LTPH practice jersey.  Staff on ice will be USA Hockey registered with appropriate credentials via PYH.  All participants will be required to follow all COVID protocols at all times.

Please contact info@pembroketitansyouth.org with any questions.

See you at the rink!

It is with great sadness to share that we have lost 2 amazing Pembroke young men as a result of a tragic car accident in our town early this morning.  Joey Birolini and Billy Hickey are both Pembroke Youth Hockey alumni.  They were both part of the greatest PYH Peewee A team of all time, going 50-0 and winning the State Championship in 2011, and their team banner hangs at Hobomock rink 1.  More information will be available in the coming days.  Please consider donating to the families.  Our Pembroke and surrounding communities have already stepped up big time raising close to $100k.

Updated Dec 21, 2020

This letter is from the State Contact Tracing Collaborative and South Shore Conference leadership.

To Pembroke Youth Hockey and our Community,

The holiday season is a time that we traditionally come together and spend time with our families and friends. This year, as we know, things are different. The risk of becoming sick with COVID-19 is just as high as it was months ago, and this trend will worsen in the coming weeks if we don’t act now. This year, the best way to keep our kids and families safe and able to continue to enjoy playing the sports they love, is by staying home.

Social gatherings over the Thanksgiving holiday have had an enormous impact on the spread of COVID in our communities. They’ve had an enormous impact on many of our schools, teams, and local businesses. Please, from our family to yours, stay home this year.

We recognize that this is hard and it comes at a time in which everyone is tired of social distancing, masking up, and all the other challenges that 2020 has brought.  We often hear of families or groups of friends that decide to get together because they know that they are all being careful and no one is feeling sick. However, this is no guarantee, and one guest can be one too many. Often times people are the most contagious prior to their symptom onset, and even those with the best of intentions could pose a serious risk to the health of others. Remember that even if you are fortunate not to experience severe symptoms, you could transmit COVID to someone who is more susceptible to severe illness. Choosing to hold or attend a gathering could have very serious impacts on your family, friends, and neighbors.

We ask you this year, as a part of your sports community and family, to reconsider your holiday travels and holiday plans. Please help us to protect our players, coaches, and referees after the holidays. Please help us to keep our families safe and healthy. Stay home this year. Let’s work together to make sure we can all spend our holidays next year with those we love.

Sincerely, and with the warmest wishes for a safe and happy holiday,

CTC and SSC

Updated October 22, 2020

We are shut down for the next 2 weeks.  PYH supports the response below from Massachusetts Hockey.  While we are saddened by this decision, we are hopeful to be back on the ice soon.  Our PYH family, which includes our coaches, players, parents, and home rink of Hobomock Arenas have been a model for following the rules and doing what's safe on and off the ice during the pandemic.  Thank you to everyone involved in keeping us safe, including Mass Hockey.  We ask that everyone to please follow the guidance, wear a mask, wash your hands, and remain social distant.  Your coaches will be in touch soon with team based zoom calls and activities we can all do away from the rink.
